The origins of PEDRO LUIS MARTINEZ, S.A. date back to 1870, when the first commercial cellar in Jumilla was established for trading wines in bulk. The cellar has experienced a number of changes throughout its long history. The most important occurred in 1999, when the company proprietors (all of them descendants from the founder) decided to start bottling their own wines under the brand Alceño. Since then, the careful selection of vines and grapes, and great skill in the elaboration of coupages from Monastrell, Tempranillo and Syrah grapes have made it possible for the winery to achieve numerous awards in both national and international contests and, what is most important, the acknowledgement of consumers of the finest wines.
